As I wrote in my review, I'm coming from an Anabaptist perspective and some of the Reformed thinking and other parts make me squirm.Pastor Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02623095603948292945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497768916310751169.post-34501850952549703052012-02-03T02:13:00.668-05:002012-02-03T02:13:00.668-05:00This book completely turns the average person'...This book completely turns the average person's idea of the "American Dream" upside down (Hence the upside down house on the cover. Don't feel bad, I thought it was a mask too:).One of the questions I had while reading it though was, "What would happen if every Christian in America did everything in this book?" It would most likely change the face of the earth. However, I must say that I do not agree doctrinally with everything he says, though I won't go into detail. Overall, with this books useful tips and convicting message, I think it is a good book, despite the few doctrinal errors.Italiahttp://familynothing2dobirth.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497768916310751169.post-58244163392247458662011-11-28T08:48:21.576-05:002011-11-28T08:48:21.576-05:00Thanks Chris! Thanks Chris!Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14333692914628899464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497768916310751169.post-15815840572963991172011-11-23T12:46:31.161-05:002011-11-23T12:46:31.161-05:00And we are blessed to know you and Katie! Smooth life or bumpy, it is better when Jesus is the biggest part of it.Pastor Mistynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497768916310751169.post-42330987450977808902010-03-23T19:54:22.325-04:002010-03-23T19:54:22.325-04:00I had some trouble interpreting the NIV version of...I had some trouble interpreting the NIV version of verse 25 in Chapter 12: "The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." Reading the version of this verse from The Message helped me better understand it: "In the same way, anyone who holds onto life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you'll have it forever, real and eternal." Somehow, this translation reminded me that even though things may be going smoothly in my life right now, I should constantly be challenging myself to grow closer to God. That's why I am taking this challenge to read the 10 chapters in John so seriously- in order to strengthen my relationship with God and live a life that is "forever, real and eternal." I hope others in our youth group will do the same.Leahnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497768916310751169.post-8416761385722997792010-03-22T09:49:41.920-04:002010-03-22T09:49:41.920-04:00The Gospel of John was written most likely by John...The Gospel of John was written most likely by John the Apostle sometime before 96 A.D. It was written from Ephesus where John was living. John is thought to be "the disciple whom Jesus loved" who is mentioned several times in the Gospel.

Chapter 12
Triumphal Entry - begins like a Triumphal parade to honor a conquering hero, but John points out that Jesus doesn't get onto the donkey until he has entered the city - the point? Jesus isn't a military King coming with an army. His kingdom will be different, not one that takes over by conquering with a sword but that conquers and disarms with love.Commentarynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497768916310751169.post-26987260027540296812009-11-18T14:24:46.766-05:002009-11-18T14:24:46.766-05:00I'm looking forward to hearing from the Youth ...I'm looking forward to hearing from the Youth and advisors on this issue.
